The author, based on the analysis of travel books in which Adeline Pauline Irby as a co-author appears, especially the second edition of Travels in the Slavonic Provinces of Turkey-in-Europe (1877), and numerous writings in the British newspapers opens the question of Miss Irby’s role in creating a negative image of Muslims, especially Bosnian Muslims, in the context of solving the Eastern Question from 1860s to 1878. In this sense, Miss Irby’s ideology and the universality of her humanism are being discussed.
